Yes We Still Have No Sidewalks Today, And Um, Aren’t Likely To Get Any
Truth is, we never did have any, and it is so frustrating because I like my carpets kept clean. It does not matter how often you vacuum, dirt still becomes embedded in the carpet whether you like it or not.
The Biggest Culprits
I finally figured out why my carpeting takes so much care to keep clean. Running shoes, athletic wear, golf shoes, boots, and dirty dog’s feet from digging outside all contribute to the problem. The bottoms of shoes all have ridges and valleys in them and pick up the dirt. I have five, yep five, washable throw rugs from the entryway and on into the main part of the house. It only helps a little. Well, now I know why people have piles of shoes in their entryway. Dear husband does not believe anyone should be barefoot on rugs, and no one here likes slippers. It leaves me stuck with major carpet cleaning mania several times a year.
The Cure for Carpet Cleaning Blues
I bought my very own personal carpet cleaner. It finally came down to parting with a bit more than a few dollars, but it was so worthwhile. Some days you have to spend money to actually save money. I bought a Hoover Steam Vac with rotating scrub brushes. The Hoover Steam Vac came with two tanks, one for the cleaning solution and one used as a recovery tank. No more renting and lugging those carpet cleaners from the grocery store for me. I do it when I want to do it, and it is as close as the garage. That purchase was at least 14 years ago and it still serves me well.
